Bonneville ‘Speed Week’ 2016

Back in 2012, the Aircraft Windshield Team went to the SCTA Speedweek at the Bonneville Salt Flats to witness the record breaking achievements of the many crews they had the pleasure of working with.

Now, in 2016 they will return to experience ‘Salt Fever’ and watch as these teams attempt to shatter their previous records. Here are a few of the projects that AWC has worked with…

Poteet & Main ‘Speed Demon’

George Poteet and Ron Main’s Speed Demon has established a new land speed record for a piston engined wheel driven car. During Bonneville Speed Week the car hit 451.933 mph with Poteet at the wheel, setting a new combined record of 437.183 mph smashing the old record by 47.183 mph.

“On the first run on the year on 9/12, Speed Demon got a little sideways and rolled several times near the 3-mile mark on the course.”

1966 McLaren MKII

“Driven by 25 year old Jerry Entin in the 1967 United States Road Racing Championship Series and the 1967 Canadian- American Challenge Series (CAN-AM). After siting 45 years, the car was restored in 2011/2012 by Ike Smith. On completion it was driven at the Coronado Festival of Speed (“Fleet Week”) in September 2012 by now 70 year old Jerry Entin A good time was had by all.”

One of a Kind ‘Quazar’

“The canopy fit perfectly, and I never had to trim it. I’m very impressed with the quality of the optics. The airplane has 8 hours flight time on it now. Fly’s great. The canopy is hinged at the front.”

P.S. The aircraft is one of a kind, its called a Quazar.
